1st Emergency Scouts was founded in 1999 as a vocational first aid Rover Crew sponsored by Nova Scotia ground ambulance. Since its inception, we have attended numerous scouting camps and jamborees as an offer of service across the maritimes, as well as public events by donation. Our program is intended to provide our members with skills and experience for youth interested in the healthcare discipline. Training and inventory is self-managed and structured by age group, which is outlined below.
Venturers begin learning standard first aid skills within the first year of enrolment and are provided with a Hi-vis vest and two work polos. After the first year, Venturers in good standing receive Standard First Aid & CPR certification. Additional skills include radio ettiquette, documentation, dispatching, and many more! For more details regarding the Venturer Scout program, visit Venturer Scouts (Age 15–17).
Newly recruited Rovers follow a structure similar to Venturer Scouts, but may have additional responsibilities
in correspondance to the Rover motto "service". After the second year, Rovers in good standing receive First
Responder certification, which consists of advanced first aid techniques and more aligned with the pre-hosptial
profession.
Rovers who have been invested from our Venturer Company may recieve First Responder training at a minimum age of
18, provided they have committed two years in either age group. For more details regarding the Rover Scout program,
